Frequently Asked Questions

  1. QUESTION:
Is there a big demand for Solar Panel Installers?

    • ANSWER:
Some of that is going to depend on where you're located. Some areas are adopting solar power faster than others. The notion that it's a "season" job may apply in the North, but should not be the case in warmer climates.

I suggest you look for solar panel companies in your area, and call them and ask them if they're looking for technicians to do the installation and what credentials they're looking for.....I wouldn't be surprised if you find someone who's looking.

Your local utility, county or state may also have information on solar power -- and incentives for people to install it -- along with that they may have information on the companies who install it... which could be a good place for you to start looking for a company to hire you.

      Good luck!

But before you purchase anything from them ,make sure to compair their effiency rate and accessories they come with.

  3. QUESTION:
How do I become a solar panel installer?
I've looked just about everywhere, however all the information is for contractors not employees.

    • ANSWER:
The SEI group specializes in training folks on installation of solar systems
They have courses available in different cities they also have an online class. I would not suggest the online course (I took it) I think real classroom time is much better. If you cannot make a class I would suggest getting their training book. It has all the exercises the online course has and has great info and is about 10% of the cost of the online course. Their link is the solarenergy.org below

ASES is the American Solar Energy Society. They have a conference once a year with training courses. Their website also has links to explore

NABCEP is an organization that certifies installers.

      Good luck

I am looking at I have searched on the internet and find everything but what I am looking for. I live in Arkansas and I am looking for a honest company inside of the state.

    Thank You

    • ANSWER:
NABCEP is an independent agency that certifies solar installers. Having a certified installer means they have gone through rigorous training and testing, and have done several installations, so they know what they are doing. There are two in AR.

I don't know how to test for honesty, but you should always followup with references.
